Abstract: 
This master thesis introduces the basic principle of billing-systems. In science this field of knowledge is a new one which has it's big boom at the beginning of the internet. The development goes on and billing-systems are more and more sophisticated. There are a lot of different models and systems. And not only the great companies are using this models, but also the smaller ones recognize this flexible and powerful technology. In this thesis you can read about the most-known billing-systems and the used models, requirements, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. To understand the billing process it is necessary to know the billing life cycle. This includes the following phases: mediation, accounting and charging, invoicing, payment, debt collection, cash management and reports. Today the billing process is used in several areas. This thesis will analyze available internet-based billing-systems in tourism. For a tourist going on holiday, there are a lot of ways to collect important information using the internet. Planning and booking a journey is easy and comfortable. And the accounting for services with billing-systems is ubiquitious. The topics billing, electronic bill presentment and payment, e-business and tourism will be explained. Three scenarios of internet-based billing-systems in the tourism with business process models will be introduced: The keymotion-system in the ski region Kärntner Nassfeld, the travel management system from Siemens and Travel Tours, a business model for a internet travel portal. In the graphical sequences you can see a new business view, the way money flows between the actors.
