The main purpose of this diploma thesis is to evaluate how a competency-management-system works in cooperation with e-Learning. To enable the exchange of data between those platforms, state of the art standards are used and adapted. Furthermore, to get data for test cases, an e-Learning course was created, consisting of three modules and concerning database design. The obtained metadata of this course is used to simulate means of interaction between all platforms involved. An evaluation protocol demonstrates the outcome. This protocol illustrates a concept on how a competency profile is used and is updated after successfully attending a course.
