In competence management many personal and sensible information are managed and stored. Although this information is managed on a server, users should have full control over their information. It should be possible to encrypt information, but also to search for persons with certain competences and to combine information.
In the thesis, with usage scenarios security requirements are analyzed. Upon these requirements a security architecture is designed and a prototype based on Liferay portal software (http://www.liferay.com) is developed to evaluate the conceptual solution is aspects of user friendliness and efficiency.
