Abstract:
This paper deals with the network analysis of social tags that were annotated for works of art. It is thereby possible to visualise relations among the tags that represent themes, persons and iconographic attributes. By applying network clustering algorithms, it is possible to identify different groups of tags that correspond to art historical classifications. We provide different examples to show correlations of themes, persons, and iconographic details that are based solely on the annotations of the users.

Abstract German:
In dieser Arbeit werden für Kunstwerke annotierte Schlagworte, sogenannte Social Tags, netzwerkanalytisch untersucht. Dazu werden die Tags in eine Netzwerkstruktur überführt, wodurch es möglich wird, Beziehungen von Tags zueinander visuell darzustellen. Obwohl es sich bei den Tags um Betrachtungen und Einschätzungen von BenutzerInnen handelt, lassen sich so Rückschlüsse über die Bildgattung ziehen. Durch Anwendung von Clusteringalgorithmen lassen sich so zusammenhängende Gruppen identifizieren. Anhand mehrerer Beispiele zeigen wir interessante Zusammenhänge von Themen, Personen und ikonographischen Details, welche einzig auf der Beschlagwortung durch BenutzerInnen beruhen.
